Sustainability

At Taupo Tandem Skydiving, we are extremely lucky to have Lake Taupo and it’s surroundings as our office. It’s a beautiful place to work and we want to keep it that way for decades to come. That’s why we are committed to protecting the environment we operate out of for many more skydivers to come.

Carbon footprint reduction

We’re working with Trees That Count to help mitigate our carbon footprint over the next 50 years, and help protect New Zealand’s threatened biodiversity. This is done by funding native trees to be planted in our beautiful area. That’s good for our carbon footprint, and for Aotearoa.

Our Aircraft

It’s true, planes aren’t the most environmentally friendly machines on the planet. While we can’t eliminate the need just yet, we are committed to selecting the most efficient aircraft for the job and we do our best to make sure that we operate it in the most environmentally friendly way possible. To minimise pollution. TTS uses a Cessna Caravan which is both fast and fuel efficient. Its capacity allows us to increase the number of passengers per load and its new engine uses less fuel than older engine designs. On top of this, we also carry out extensive engine monitoring to track engine performance, look for and implement further operational efficiencies,

Noise and the Environment

Aircrafts are typically quite loud and their operation can have a significant impact on the people in the vicinity of operations. We considered this with our aircraft selection and were able to find a solution that is not only efficient on fuel as mentioned above but also has a significantly lower noise footprint than other aircrafts in its category. In addition to the special aircraft, we have developed procedures over the last 20 years that ensure, wherever possible, flights are kept away from noise sensitive areas.

Digital Photos and Videos

Soon after landing, your amazing memories will be ready and available. We have incorporated an online media storage facility into our system which means your experience is available to share digitally with family and friends, cutting down on the need to print copies and keep track of a USB or other storage device.

Waste Management & Recycling

At TTS, we have recycling facilities on site which separates plastics, glass and paper. All of our staff make a conscious effort to recycle whatever they can, and we encourage all of our customers to use these facilities too. The recycled materials are then collected by the council and sent to a sorting centre.

Package Partners

We partner with a number of businesses in the area to bring you epic combos such as the Heli and Skydive, Huka Freefall and Duck’n’Dive combos. We make sure that all businesses we partner with adopt the same environmental values and sustainable practices that we believe in. After all, looking after the environment is a group effort!

Every little bit….

Above are some of the major initiatives that have helped us to significantly improve TTS’s impact on the environment. In addition to these, we are also proactively reducing our electricity and water consumption by purchasing efficient equipment and consumables as well as environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Giving Back To The Community

Taupo Tandem Skydiving believes very strongly in supporting and giving back to our community. We support a number of charities locally and nationally.
